At 11:15 AM, a fire was reported in the 7000 block of Wildwood Circle in the Fern Creek area of Louisville. Two people and a cat were rescued from the building. Everyone is expected to be okay. Around 50 people are currently being displaced due to the gas and heat being shut off. They could be displaced for at least a week. Investigators believe the fire started in a kitchen where someone was boiling eggs.
An hour later and a couple of miles away, the Park at Hurstbourne Apartments was on fire. At least five different departments sent firefighters to help battle the blaze. The cause of this fire is still under investigation and there were also no injuries. A total of 36 people are being rehoused into empty apartments within the complex.
