JCPS Sees Low Attendance After Threat

JCPSThe normal attendance rate for JCPS’ 101,00 students is around 93%. Today, attendance was 45% after a vague and anonymous threat was made.

Louisville Metro Police received the threat earlier this week through the LMPD tip line. The threat was non-specific and did not name any specific schools. This led many area schools to send messages home to parents and the colleges to send notices to the students.

All 155 of JCPS schools were open on a normal schedule today and implemented level 3 security measures. These measures included the exterior doors to school being locked at all times, all outside activities being cancelled and hallway traffic being monitored.  No incidents were reported. The threat is still being investigated by local and federal law enforcement agencies.
