The Kentucky State Fair board has announced that the hiring of more than 750 temporary employees for the event will begin August 10.
Positions include ticket sellers, gate attendants, maintenance workers, and tram drivers. Wages start at $10.10 an hour. Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old and have proper identification verifying eligibility to work.
Interested applicants must apply in person at either the KY Expo Center (South Wing C) or the employment trailer at Gate 4 of the KY Expo Center according the schedule below.
KY Exposition Center, South Wing C
August 10: 7 A.M. until 4 P.M.
August 11: 10 A.M. until 6 P.M.
August 12, 13, and 14: 8 A.M. until 4 P.M.

Annual Event to be Held June 3 at Slugger Field
US Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY3) is hosting his annual Jobs and Resources Fair tomorrow, Tuesday June 3, at Slugger Field. The free event, which lasts from 4-7 PM, offers all job seekers the opportunity to meet with more than 50 local businesses who are currently hiring to fill thousands of positions. A computer lab is available on site provided by KentuckianaWorks and the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training to allow attendees to fill out online applications. Additional employment resources will be available for veterans and active military personnel.
“As our economy continues to bounce back from the worst recession since the Great Depression, it is important that we do all we can to help jobseekers find the right opportunities.” said Yarmuth in his event announcement.
In addition to the opportunity to meet with hiring businesses, the Small Business Administration will be offering workshops for those interested in starting a business of their own.

Cedar Lake will host a job fair on Wednesday, June 18 from 11am-7pm at 3301 Jericho Road in LaGrange and on Thursday, June 19 from 11am-7pm at 7984 New LaGrange Road in Louisville. The region’s largest private non-profit care provider for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is looking to fill position openings in the following departments: Nursing (FT/PT/PRN), and Direct Support Professionals (FT/PT) for both Cedar Lake Residences, and Cedar Lake Lodge. 30+ Employers Offer 1,000+ Jobs
Horizon Group Properties, the development group behind The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass, will be holding a job fair tomorrow for the more than 30 stores that will be opening this summer. The new shopping center, expected to be open by July 31, will provide opportunities for more than 1,000 jobs, including management, sales associate, security, marketing and housekeeping.
The job fair takes will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, at Martha Layne Collins High School Gymnasium, 801 Discovery Blvd. in Shelbyville. Applicants must be 18 or older. Applicants shoul bring plenty of copies of their resumes for potential employers.
