The National Rifle Association’s Annual Meetings and Exposition returns to Louisville after 8 years. Last year, the show in Nashville had approximately 70,000 attendees and the show is expected to be even larger this year.
According the Greater Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates the show is expected to generate at least $53 million for the local economy.
The show runs May 19th – May 22nd. Exhibits run the 20th-22nd. More information can be found on the NRAAM website. Admission is free for current NRA members or you can join the NRA at the door.
Starting June 5th, Routes #4, #6, #18, and #71 will see some service adjustments.
The routes themselves will remain unchanged, but the new schedules will show some timing changes to more accurately reflect the real-time bus arrivals.
For the #4 and #71, there will be route changes. The #71 will see added weekend service to River Ridge Commerce Park as well as the Amazon Fulfillment Center. The #4 will be extended three blocks west on Main St and Market St and it will now travel south along 9th St instead of 6th St.

The Seven Sense Festival will be taking place August 27th, 2016 starting at 12:00 PM. This will be the third festival benefiting the Boys and Girls Haven.
The 15 hour event will feature over 40 bands, some local and regional breweries, local food trucks, and various craft vendors. The festival will be held on 2100 – 2300 S. Preston St, between Zanzabar and The New Vintage. The event is free and open to the public until 11:00 PM. Attendees must be 21 years or older to after 11:00 PM.
The Boys and Girls Haven was founded in 1950 by Father Maloney. The non-profit is located here in Louisville and provides a home as well as programs for homeless, abused and neglected youth. Since it’s founding, the group has helped over 3,500 children.
The NBA will be playing a game in Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center for the third year in a row. The game will be October 15, 2016 at 7:30 PM and tickets will go on sale June 3 at 10:00 AM at the KFC Yum! Center ticket off or at Ticketmaster. Tickets start at $18.
The game will feature the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves have on their roster: Karl-Anthony Towns, a former UK basketball player, and Gorgui Dieng, a former UofL player.
With 100% of the counties reporting, and only a a 20.6% voter turn-out, the results are in, but still considered unofficial. Low voter turn-out may have been due to a combination of the weather, the Republican Caucus in March and many people not knowing there were still elections on Republican ballot.
A new park is now open in southwest Louisville. The 297-acre Waverly Park set aside a bit more than 1 acre of land to be used to create the newest dog park for the county. This makes eight dog parks throughout the county.
To have access to the park, you must submit an application showing proof of vaccination and proof that your dog is licensed in the county. Applications can be downloaded from the Louisville Dog Run Association website and turned it any one of eight Feeders Supply stores in the area. The cost is $30 for the first dog and there is a discount on multiple pets, up to four dogs. If a permit is granted, the owner is given unlimited access to the park until the end of the year.
Toby Keith’s “Interstates and Tailgates” Tour will be at the Yum! Center May 21 (also known as Armed Forces Day) as part of the 145th NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits. The show will start at 7:00 PM and will also feature special guest Chris Janson.
