Calvin Borel Retires

Jockey Calvin Borel has announced that he is retiring from racing. Originally from Louisiana, Borel has won the Kentucky Derby three times during his career and he is number two for all-time wins at Churchill Downs with 2,482 wins. He has more than 5,000 career wins over his 32 year career.

Borel won the 2007 Derby with Street Sense, the 2009 Derby with Mine That Bird, and the 2010 Derby with Super Saver. In 2013, Borel was named to the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame  and he was inducted into the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame. In 2014, a movie “50:1” was based on his 2009 Kentucky Derby win with long shot Mine That Bird.
