Starting Monday, February 16th, the ramp from I-65 North to I-64 West will be closed for approximately four months. It is scheduled to reopen in June.
The closure is part of the Ohio River Bridges Project. The current ramp will be completely demolished and rebuilt. The new ramp will link the three overpasses that are currently under construction.
It is estimated that this ramp sees approximately 11,000 vehicles every day. To prevent traffic problems, the suggested detour is for drivers on I-65 N will be to take I-264 to I-64. This detour will be posted on the highway.

Within 24 hours, four people were murdered this past weekend in Louisville.
Near the intersection of Dixie Highway and Hill Street, Aaron Combs and Julie Clemons were found dead at 4:30 AM Saturday morning with gun shot wounds. There is still no suspect in this case. Police say that is difficult to find witnesses because of the time at which the murder occurred.
Approximately twelve hours later, three teenagers were shot on Adrienne Way in Shively. Witnesses believed that they had heard fireworks coming from an abandoned house, but the sounds were actually gun shots. The victims were 15-19 years old. The shooting left one dead and the other two in critical condition at University Hospital. There have been no arrests in this case.
Again, about twelve hours later, police found Martel Hall dead from a gunshot wound in his front yard on Powell Avenue. No arrests have been made in this case either.
This weekend added four more to the already high number of murders in Louisville for the year. leaving the total now at 14.
On Friday, Louisville Metro Police responded to a 911 call from a woman that claimed her there was a strong odor coming from her neighbor’s apartment and she believed that they were cooking methamphetamine. When police arrived, the tenant of the apartment, 45 year old Jimmy Ashford, gave permission for his home to be searched.
Once inside the apartment, police confirmed that there was a strong odor in the apartment. They then found a bottle in the bathroom that was smoking. Police immediately evacuated the apartment. The Louisville Metro Police Clandestine Lab Team was then brought in to dismantle the lab. The team found paraphernalia and a vessel containing chemicals commonly used to produce crystal meth.
LMPD arrested Ashford, as well as 41 year old Lena Brock and 39 year old Dana Potts. Both women were at the apartment with Ashford. All three are being charged with the manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Heads up, soccer fans! The United Soccer League has a few new teams this year. One of which will be here in Louisville.
Louisville City FC will host approximately fifteen games at Slugger Field for the season, with more than half of these being weekend games. All games will be in the evening. Individual game ticket prices are not announced as of yet, but season tickets are available, price range is $180-$505
The Louisville City FC also just announced their home debut for the 2015 season. The game will be March 28th at Slugger Field. Even more exciting is that the team will be playing the St. Louis FC, which is also a new team to the league this year.
It is anticipated that these two teams will be rivals and this should make for an exciting for an game. The full schedule will be released tomorrow.
Metro Police arrested 40 year-old, Orlando Wise, for selling marijuana and heroin through the drive-thru at the Rally’s on Dixie Highway in Valley Station.
Over the course of several days, Louisville Metro Police had watched Wise and finally caught him in the act. Police found prepackaged heroin and marijuana as well as cash. A search of him home on Grafton Hall Road revealed more evidence.
Wise has a criminal history and this is not his first arrest for the sale of drugs.
At 11:15 AM, a fire was reported in the 7000 block of Wildwood Circle in the Fern Creek area of Louisville. Two people and a cat were rescued from the building. Everyone is expected to be okay. Around 50 people are currently being displaced due to the gas and heat being shut off. They could be displaced for at least a week. Investigators believe the fire started in a kitchen where someone was boiling eggs.
An hour later and a couple of miles away, the Park at Hurstbourne Apartments was on fire. At least five different departments sent firefighters to help battle the blaze. The cause of this fire is still under investigation and there were also no injuries. A total of 36 people are being rehoused into empty apartments within the complex.
As of Monday, regulators say that the tire pile that caught on fire in southwest Jefferson County last November is still smoldering. The fire is currently covered by layers of soil, which according to the regulators, is the only thing preventing the fire from re-igniting. At this time, it is unclear how the fire could continue to smolder.
The fire was at Liberty Tire Recycling, in the 14000 block of Bohannon Dr in southwest Jefferson County. Area residents have reported minor property damage from soot as the thick black smoke from the burning fires settled to the ground and some have expressed concerns for their children and pets as a result.
The Kentucky Energy and Enivornment Cabinet and the parent company of Liberty Tire reached an agreement on $40,000 in fines and several conditions that need to be met. State officials stated that tire company is complying with all conditions.
